Behringer RD9

The Behringer RD9 Rhythm Designer gives you everything you need to become a master beat-maker. Including 10 drum voices; 64-step sequencer; wave designer; and dual-mode filter. Combining for a full-fledged drum machine that will leave you inspired for hours. So whether you’re just getting into drum programming or you’re a seasoned professional; the RD9 has everything you need to step up your game.

The original 909 Drum Machine is one of the most classic drum machines of all time. Now, the RD-9 revives that timeless design while reaching even more possibilities. Taking a fresh and modern approach, you’re able to harness the phenomenal sound of the original TR-909 while tapping into a host of new features. Above all, the RD9 is an analog beat-making monster!

Complete Control

Enhancing the way you perform, the RD-9 boasts all-new features for live use in each of the sequencer modes. Including step repeat, note repeat, real-time triggering and live step-overdubbing. Making it easier than ever to record in pattern mode, and build song structures on the fly. Then, switch back to playback mode at the flick of a button.

Each of the 10 original drum sounds come with tuning, level, attack, and decay controls. So you’re able to tweak every sound just the way you like it or adjust on the fly to create varying sounds throughout your track. There’s also the autofill feature that allows you to add some excitement and introduce some more variations. You’re even able to cue up another song from memory without interrupting playback. So you can perform entire sets from start to finish solely with the RD-9

Powerful and Feature-Rich Sequencer

What’s more, the RD9 has one of the most powerful step sequencers created. With 64-steps, you’re able to store up to 64 patterns and 16 songs with continuously variable swing. So you can mimic a real drummer while giving your beats a more human feel.

Wave Designer and Dual-Mode Filter

The integrated Wave Designer has individual attack and sustains controls that you can apply to individual voices. Bringing yet another dimension to your drum beats. The highly flexible dual-mode filter on the RD9 can also toggle between LPF and HPF. So you can experiment with the cutoff frequency and resonance controls to create out-of-this-world beats. While those fluid sweeps can be recorded straight into the sequencer and tweaked even more with the step editor.

Parameter Chaining

RD-9’s robust encoder lets you set separate chain preferences for each of your parameters, allowing them to function globally or to switch when a song or pattern changes. Parameters include tempo, swing, flam, probability, independent track mutes/solos, FX bus assignments, filter modes and sweeps for enhanced real-time control. Patterns can be changed on-the-fly for further creative control when using the RD-9 as the heart of your live setup.

USB Control

Another great feature on the RD9 is its USB Connectivity. Allowing you to control the RD9 via your DAW and use MIDI to control individual sounds.

RD9 – The Numbers

Finally, looking at the numbers; the RD9 features 33 knobs and 58 buttons. All of which are laid out in a highly-intuitive format putting the fun back into your music making. Including. Phones; Mono Audio; MIDI In, Out, Thru over USB and 5 Pin MIDI; 11 independent analog outputs. With 3 trigger outs, the RD9 can control external synths and sequencers to create songs without a digital audio workstation in sight. While you’re also able to send and receive clock information with highly-accurate timing.
