Top 10 New Release Products from NAMM 2017: Part 01
The 2017 NAMM Show was a massive event as expected, with over 100,000 people attending the Anaheim Convention Center over the weekend.
There were some awesome new product releases that we are very excited to get stock of. With so many brands bringing out their new arsenal of gear for 2017, we decided to narrow it down to the Top 10 Products that you’ll be seeing in DJ City stores soon, so here we go!
#1 Denon DJ Prime Series
This year at the NAMM Show, Denon DJ was the name on every DJs mind, after the press release of their exciting new Prime Series. The new Denon gear was closed off to the public, with viewing only available by appointment only for industry personnel. This made for a very intimate experience when viewing the new products. With an expert rundown of each item by the Denon Product Manager, it gave us the chance to really soak in how truly amazing these products are.
The new Denon DJ Prime series is currently made up of three items; each as exciting as the next.
The Denon VL12 DJ Turntable
First cab off the rank is the very beautiful VL12 turntable. With the illuminated RGB LED platter, it’s hard to look away. Specifications aside, this is an incredible turntable. From the aesthetics to the feel – it’s all been well thought out and executed to perfection. It is built like a tank, weighing in at over 10kg, with a brushed black metal finish and a new style chrome platter – it was love at first sight.
This new DJ Turntable will turn heads and hearts and we can’t wait to get our hands on them.

The Denon X1800 4 Channel DJ Mixer
The 4 channel DJ mixer from the Prime series is everything you would expect from a professional DJ mixer. The look and feel is the same quality across the board of the entire Prime series. It features a clever addition of the backlit touch strip. This gives you control to apply effects to each track instantly at the touch of the strip and also allows you to quantise those effects in multiple beat-grids as you run up and down the touch strip.

The Denon SC5000 Pro DJ Media Player
Last, but not least, is a product the could very well change the industry as we know it. I think what makes this product so exciting is that we have yet to see a Single DJ CD / Media player enter the market and directly rival the industry standard that is the Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus.
Seeing, touching and playing on this unit for the first time felt as comfortable and as natural to use as a CDJ. When other single media players have come onto the market they truly lack style and feel. The switch from a Pioneer unit to something new doesn’t seem possible. But with the design and features of the SC5000, there is a very easy transition. The SC5000 is capable of exceptional functionality which really sets it apart from its competition.
I foresee great things for this player and can’t wait to have them in-store at DJ City for demos.

#2 Behringer Deep Mind 12 Synth
Behringer’s focus this year at NAMM was obvious and to the point, their display comprised of one product, the Behringer Deep Mind 12 Synth! With 10 Synth stations set-up in front of a screen and podium like a classroom, Behringer ran tutorial classes on how to use the new Deep Mind Synth.
Since its press release, this awaited synth has some very high expectations and is set to come on the market later this year. From the outset, it pretty much looks like any normal stock standard synth, but let me assure you after spending about 15 minutes playing on one of these bad boys, there is something truly special about this one.

#3 Reloop RMX90DVS DJ Mixer
Reloop have finally release a product that they have so desperately required.
With the rise of DJs spinning vinyls, the need for a high quality, affordable mixer that has an in-built DVS ready interface is essential. While brands such as Rane and Pioneer have very high quality solutions for this need, the price tag can be out of reach for most vinyl spinners.
Introducing the Reloop RMX90 4 channel DJ mixer! This mixer is the easiest and most logical solution for Reloop. It is a very high quality mixer, similar to the RMX80, with the features and functions you would expect from a Pro DJ mixer, however this bad boy is DVS compatible!
Yes that’s right, see you later Serato SL box – the RMX90 has one built inside. This will be a great asset for all DVS DJs, and we can’t wait until they arrive.

#4 LD Systems Stinger G3 Series
The Stinger Series was a much loved active speaker series here at DJ City, with the Stinger G2 selling faster than we ever imagined. Due to some production delays, the Stinger series was obsolete for some time. As production of the G2 series concluded and the delays in manufacturing of the G3 series occurred, there was a time of no Stingers at all.
LD Systems catered perfectly for the middle-market with their awesome GT Series and put everyone to shame in the high-market with the DDQ series. However, the middle – high market place remained untapped … until now.
The Stinger G3 series is an incredible sounding range of speakers with the standard format of active 10, 12 and 15 inch. With the 15 and 18 inch subwoofers, the G3 series will knock socks off.

#5 Chauvet DJ FX Array Q5
Although Chauvet have release a hand full of new and exciting fixtures for NAMM 2017, this particular light was a personal favourite and mesmerising effect at the Chauvet DJ Booth. With 5 Quad colour wash LEDs combined with 30 RGB SMD LEDs, this effect has your eyes glued. It’s such a simple, but effective small wash and strobe-style light.
It was easy to picture this one having a place in any mobile DJ’s lighting array.
