Pioneer DJ offers AlphaTheta Care
A Pioneer DJ warranty could not be more welcomed by DJs the world over. After all, even hobby DJs will know just how hardy equipment and gear needs to be to keep up with the pace of music mixing, creation and performances. Pioneer DJ, one of the leading providers of DJ equipment in the industry, has introduced a new offering to help DJs deal with malfunctioning or damaged equipment: AlphaTheta Care.
What is this warranty? How does it work?
Let’s dive in right now.
Intro to Pioneer DJ and AlphaTheta Care
Pioneer DJ is a Japanese manufacturer of a range of music equipment widely used by DJs and other artists. Additionally, they produce car radios and general audio equipment for a variety of applications.
Between the quality of its products, the relatively affordable prices, and the innovative design and build of its products, Pioneer DJ has become one of the leading and most well known manufacturers of DJ equipment.
The need for Pioneer warranties
Pioneer prides itself on its dedication to understanding and predicting the needs of its DJing customers. In addition to the products it supplies, in recent years there has been an increase in focus on service as well, for example: product warranties.
This brings us to AlphaTheta Care.
What is AlphaTheta Care?
“To ensure that customers who purchase products such as our CDJ-3000 can continue to use them over long periods with peace of mind, we launched AlphaTheta Care, the DJ industry’s first product warranty service, in April 2022.” – AlphaTheta.
This brand new digital service is part of a new gear protection program for a range of Pioneer DJ products. Launched by its parent company, these Pioneer warranties offer extended protection for DJs who have bought many of their product models. Of course, there has always been the standard one-year warranty offering from the manufacturer, but now the extended three-year warranty takes that to a new level.
You can find the Pioneer DJ USA’s Instagram post announcing the new warranty here.
What does it cover?
The exciting thing about AlphaTheta Care is that it offers two different levels of coverage. This allows every DJ to choose the cover that best suits them. The highest package covers everything from general wear and tear to actual damage and even from accidental exposure to liquid.
There are however limits related to regions and countries. We recommend speaking either to the team here at DJ City or directly with the product manufacturer to find out more.
Which products are covered?
Items covered by the new warranty offered by AlphaTheta and Pioneer DJ include:
- CDJ-3000s
- DDJ-1000
- DDJ-1000SRT
- DDJ-FLX10
- DDJ-REV7
- DJM-900NXS2
- DJM-A9
- DJM-S11
- DJM-S7
- DJM-V10
- DJM-V10-LF
- Opus Quad
- PLX-1000
- PLX-1000
- XDJ-1000MK2
- XDJ-RX3
- XDJ-XZ
- XDJ-XZ-W
Does the warranty cover second-hand gear?
Don’t worry, Pioneer DJ has thought of everything.
If you sell your DJ gear or buy someone else’s pre-used DJ equipment, the warranty can be transferred to the new owner for a relatively small fee of US$25.
You won’t, unfortunately, be able to add your previous owned or outdated equipment. All equipment needs to be registered for AlphaTheta Care within six months of the product’s purchase date.
The program also does not include coverage for any headphones or speakers. For the moment, at least.
What are the different plans?
The two AlphaTheta Care warranties are:
- Pro; and
- Pro+
Both options include a warranty for three years and cover all manner of damage, wear and tear, broken screens, cracked screens, worn out knobs or damaged jog wheels, chassis, faders and switches. The Pro+ however includes coverage for liquid spills on equipment as well.
Other than that, there is no significant difference between the two. However, the manufacturer warranty, aside from only covering one year, doesn’t cover anything other than manufacturing defects.
Should you pay for the extra Pioneer DJ warranty?
This is really up to you, assuming you and your product are eligible. Having an extensive and extended warranty can provide a lot of peace of mind.
There isn’t a lot of indication about how long repairs or replacements from Pioneer DJ take. Additionally, there are a number of external factors – such as parts availability – that can affect these sorts of things.
Nevertheless, if having a warranty for your Pioneer DJ products is a priority for you, it’s worth looking into.
