Pioneer DJ Toraiz AS-1

The Toraiz Pack includes the Pioneer DJ Toraiz AS-1 which is a monophonic analog synthesizer that brings new creative possibilities to the studio and the stage. Its intuitive controls include parameter knobs that let you make both subtle and dramatic changes to the tone of your music to create your own personalised sound. Plus you can use the touchpad-style keyboard and slider to manipulate sounds during performances. The Toraiz AS-1 is driven by a fully programmable, true analogue synthesis engine. It is based on the discrete analogue circuitry in Dave Smith Instruments Prophet-6 synthesizer. It also inherits 7 onboard effects from the Prophet-6 synth as well as a brand new digital distortion.

Working closely with Dave Smith himself, we have created a synth that produces powerful analogue sound. The Toraiz AS-1 is an ideal addition to the setups of professional and aspiring producers. The AS-1 is based on the same analogue filters as Dave Smith’s renowned Prophet-6 synthesiser. It has 2 voltage-controlled oscillators (VCO) with continuously variable triangle, sawtooth, and pulse wave shapes. So you can sculpt your sound using the 2 voltage-controlled filters (VCF) a 4-pole, resonant low-pass filter that can self-oscillate and a 2-pole, resonant high-pass filter.

AS-1 Presets and Programmes

Use the Toraiz AS-1 to create one-of-a-kind sounds using; 2 VCOs, 2 VCFs, and VCA, 2 EGs and 1 LFO, then save each sound and its parameter settings as a program so you can instantly access it later. The inspiring 495 preset programmes each have a different sound and 64-step sequence that can be edited separately. You can also save up to 495 of your own programmes in the 5 user banks. Be creative with the Prophet-6-derived dual FX engine. You can use a single effect, or pair 2 together to add extra texture to your sounds. FX includes Bucket Brigade Delay, Distortion, Ring Modulation, Chorus and Maestro Phaser.

The Toraiz AS-1 will also make sure your performance is in perfect harmony as you perform the sounds you create with the touchpad keyboard or change the notes assigned to the keys with Scale Mode. Add dynamic changes to your performance by using the slider to manipulate 7 different parameters. Change the pitch of 2 oscillators, adjust the amount of FX and more.

Pioneer Toraiz SP-16

The Toraiz Pack also includes a Pioneer Toraiz SP16 sampler and step sequencer. This is the first in our line-up of music production tools for DJs and producers. We’ve partnered with the legendary synth creator Dave Smith to add his Prophet-6 analogue filters. So you can give your creations a rich, analogue warmth and presence.

Use the Toraiz SP-16’s simple layout and large touch screen for producing or; use it as a standalone unit in the DJ booth to enhance performances. Just load samples, create patterns, add FX, loops, and manipulate their parameters to make your music your own. The 7-inch, full-colour touch display gives you instant access to all the info you need. Browse, select and colour-code samples intuitively. While manipulating their parameters with the rotary dials just below the screen. A 16-step sequencer lets you create up to 256 different patterns. You can save and playback your loops instantly, and use the dials to modulate the sounds. Plus the backlit buttons will reflect the colours assigned to each sound for a visual guide.

Furthermore, you can load up to 16 samples to the large rubber pads. Then finger drum freely to layer sounds on the fly. The multicolour LEDs show what samples are in play. While Velocity Mode lets you control the sample volume with the amount of pressure you apply. You get all the power you need to play with 16 samples simultaneously. Even when you’re using time stretch, pitch bend or the amp envelope. With 8GB of flash memory, you have enough space to use the Toraiz SP-16. As a stand-alone unit, with no need for a laptop.

Pioneer DJ Squid Toraiz IS1 Sequencer

Lastly, the Toraiz Pack includes the Pioneer DJ Squid Toraiz IS1. A Sequencer that has the power to be the core of your studio and live setup. It’s engineered for flexibility and flow so the Squid is a powerful tool for creativity and performance. Building upon the success of the Toraiz SP-16 and AS-1, the Pioneer DJ Squid Toraiz IS1 Sequencer (SeQUencer Inspirational Device) is an innovative multitrack sequencer. It can create new phrases one after another by quickly programming and dynamically arranging sequence patterns. Therefore performing artists across the entire spectrum will appreciate the Squid workflow.

With the power to serve as the heartbeat of your studio and live setup. The SQUID is optimised for the effortless creation of musical phrases on the fly. A tonne of INs & OUTS means connectivity with the Toraiz Squid is done with ease. Therefore all options allow control of synths and drum machines via USB, MIDI, CV, or DIN Sync.

The Squid’s strengths also shine when it comes to its sequencing abilities, the multitude of advanced performance features are impressive. Start by creating sequence patterns with the 16 velocity-sensitive multicoloured LED pads. Use Interpolation to arrange phrases by setting the; pitch, gate, and velocity for the beginning, middle, and end of the steps. The SQUID will automatically supplement the parameters for the steps in between. Looking to add inspirational chords? Check out Harmonizer, which also allows you to pick the root note and create up to six chord progressions. This allows you to intuitively create evolving phases, all in real-time. Coupled with the ability to easily import and export sequence patterns. This can be done with both your Mac or PC.
