Elektron Digitone Keys
The Elektron Digitone Keys is an eight-voice polyphonic synthesizer keyboard that can usher in soundscapes of distant dreams and worlds previously out of reach. The 37-key velocity and pressure sensitive keyboard with aftertouch gives you a whole new level of expression and control of the Digitone’s intuitive sound engine.
The vast sonic potential of FM synthesis
The complex timbres and sonic animation you can create with FM (frequency modulation) synthesis make it a unique method of sound creation, but the first digital synthesizers that came out in the 1980s were not known for their ease of use. Digitone Keys presents FM in a welcoming fashion. Each of the four synth tracks features its own 4-operator FM synth engine with eight algorithms. Elektron gave Digitone Keys a familiar subtractive synthesis-style workflow that makes tweaking these voices fun and intuitive. And with the potential to lock a different synth sound into every sequenced step, Digitone Keys offers far more sonic potential than most 8-voice synthesizers — or most FM synths in general, for that matter.
Premium aftertouch-enabled Fatar keybed
We were thrilled when we found out that Elektron was putting out a keyboard version of the Digitone. But we were overjoyed when we got out hands on it! Elektron didn’t skimp — they went right to the Italian keybed masters. Digitone Keys features a premium Fatar keyboard with silky-smooth semi-weighted action, plus something else serious synthesists covet: aftertouch. With Digitone Keys, you can use assignable aftertouch to add a bit of tasty vibrato or other modulation to a note without taking your hands off the keys. Plug an expression pedal into the Control In B jack, and you’ve got even more modulation possibilities to make your sounds shimmer and shake — with your hands still on the keys! With Digitone Keys, Elektron has taken its innovative FM synth and made it insanely great.
Familiar Elektron sequencing
If you’ve used any of Elektron’s instruments, you’ll be familiar with Digitone Keys’s polyphonic sequencer. Trig Conditions and Parameter Locks open up vast creative potential, allowing for each sequence step to have completely different sample and parameter values. The sequencer also features adjustable micro timing, allowing you to add subtle timing variations to humanize rigid-sounding patterns.
Take control of your DAW via Elektron Overbridge
Overbridge lets you integrate your Digitone Keys synth and sequencer right into your DAW, routing audio to and from your hardware via a single USB cable. Better yet, you get a whole graphic user interface to control every major aspect of Digitone Keys, essentially turning it into a plug-in.
Note: Overbridge support will be available at a future date.
