Boss BF-3
Building on the 20-year legacy of the famous BOSS BF-2, the new BF-3 flanger pedal gives guitarists and bassists an updated version of the classic BOSS flanger with the thickest stereo flanging sounds ever. Two new modes (Ultra and Gate/Pan) create stereo flanging with incredible depth, even Slicer-type effects and sounds that seem to “swirl” around the listener. An instant classic.
Physical Knob Controls
The BF-3 provides users with a generous amount of flanger controls. The [MANUAL] knob allows you to adjust the centre frequency at which to apply the effect. The range is raised as you turn the knob to the right (clockwise). The settings range varies with the selected mode. This is also true when connecting an instrument to BASS IN. The [RES] knob adjusts the amount of resonance. Also known as feedback. When you turn this knob to the right; the stronger the characteristic effect in the sound becomes audible.
Also, present on the BF-3 is the [DEPTH] knob which allows you to adjust the sweep depth. The effect deepens as you turn the knob to the right. When this knob is turned completely clockwise, The [MANUAL] knob has no function. The [RATE] knob adjusts the rate of the flanging. The flange effect speeds up as you turn the knob to the right and vice versa.
Mode Control on the BF-2
Also present on the BF-3 is the MODE knob which allows you to set between ULTRA, STANDARD, GATE/PAN and MOMENTARY. The ULTRA setting will provide a stronger flanger effect than STANDARD. STANDARD will provide a normal flanger effect. GATE/PAN is useful when playing in Mono. This will create radical changes in the output volume. When in Stereo this alternately pans the output to the left and right. It results in a flanger effect that imparts a sense of rotation or spinning. Lastly is the MOMENTARY mode. The STANDARD tone is applied and the flanger effect is only applied while the BF-3 pedal is depressed
DJ City also offers a wide range of additional BOSS Effects Pedals.
