Steven Slate Audio ML-2 Small-Diaphragm Modeling Microphone
The Slate Digital ML-2 gives you a small-diaphragm modelling microphone in the award-winning Virtual Microphone System. Capable of recreating the tone of an entire mic locker of instrument mics. Including dynamics such as the 57 and 421, cardioid classic ribbons like the 121, as well as other famous small diaphragm mics such as 451 and 222. You’ll even find large diaphragm mics like the 414 and tube 67.
Just like the ML-1, the ML-2 microphone boasts an ultra-linear response with no distortion. So it serves as a blank canvas for our modeling software. After testing a number of microphones during the development of the ML-2, even the most expensive small diaphragm microphones saturate when micing loud sources. Therefore, the ML-2 adds a proprietary dynamic switch. Attenuating the mic output and repolarizing the capsule. So you can use the ML-2 in extremely high SPL situations without overloading or saturating. As a result, you can use it just like a dynamic mic on your drums, guitar cabs, and more.
Finally, pair the ML-2 with your VRS8 interface to get the most out of your ML-2 microphone. It does also work with any preamp, although software emulations will not always be as accurate.
