Shure SM7dB Broadcast Dynamic Vocal Microphone with Built-In Preamp
The Shure SM7dB is a cardioid dynamic vocal microphone with a Shure-designed built-in preamp. It gives you up to +28dB of low-noise, flat and transparent gain, making it easier to get a strong recording level from lower-output audio interfaces and simpler audio chains.
Think classic SM7-style sound, now with extra gain on tap. The SM7dB delivers warm, smooth audio for vocals, podcasting, streaming, broadcast, voiceover and studio recording, while still giving you the option to bypass the preamp when you want original SM7B-style performance.
Built-In Preamp for Easier Gain
The SM7dB’s built-in active preamp provides selectable +18dB or +28dB gain. This helps solve one of the most common SM7B-style setup issues: needing enough clean gain from your audio interface or mixer.
Use +28dB for podcasting, voiceover and quieter vocal recordings. Use +18dB for louder voices, instruments or setups that only need a smaller boost.
Classic SM7 Sound with Bypass Mode
The preamp bypass switch lets you deactivate the onboard preamp and revert to original SM7B-style performance. That gives you the flexibility to use the SM7dB as an active dynamic microphone or as a classic passive dynamic microphone.
If you love the SM7B sound but want a simpler setup, the SM7dB gives you that familiar broadcast vocal character with built-in gain ready when you need it.
Warm, Natural Vocal Reproduction
A flat, wide-range frequency response gives the SM7dB clean and natural reproduction of both music and speech. It is a strong choice for vocal recording, narration, podcasting, streaming and broadcast-style content creation.
Bass roll-off and mid-range emphasis controls let you shape the response at the microphone. Roll off low-end rumble, add presence for extra vocal clarity, or keep the response flat when you want a more natural tone.
Built for Real Recording Spaces
The classic cardioid polar pattern helps focus on the voice in front of the microphone while rejecting unwanted off-axis sound. That makes it useful for home studios, podcast desks, broadcast rooms and less-than-perfect recording spaces.
Superior rejection of electromagnetic hum helps protect against broadband interference from computer monitors and nearby equipment, which is handy when your mic is living on a desk in the real world.
Quiet, Controlled Performance
Internal “air suspension” shock isolation helps reduce mechanical noise transmission. A highly effective pop filter also helps control plosives and breath noise during close-up vocals or narration.
The yoke mount with captive stand nut makes mounting and positioning straightforward, giving you precise control over microphone placement on a compatible microphone stand, boom arm or studio setup.
Phantom Power Requirement
Please note: the built-in preamp requires +48V phantom power from a compatible audio interface or mixer. The microphone can still operate in bypass mode without phantom power.
Complete Your Setup
Pair the SM7dB with a quality audio interface, a sturdy mic stand or boom arm, and closed-back studio headphones for a clean podcasting, streaming or vocal recording setup.
