Mimic Creative Sampler
The art of sampling has drastically evolved over the years. As a result of early attempts to capture real instruments to today’s unrecognizably twisted sonic textures and hooks, samplers have evolved right along with producers’ needs. Mimic is the latest sampler instrument to land in Reason 12 DAW Software and approaches sampling from that decidedly modern hyper-creative aesthetic.
And not to mention with four different sample modes to explore creatively, Mimic turns every audio file you’ve got into a potential sound to explore and a new musical idea to discover.
In Pitch mode, a sample loaded into Mimic is spread across the keyboard and pitched accordingly. Slice mode also automatically chops a sample up, placing each slice on your keyboard for easy juggling and flipping. MultiSlot and Multi-Pitch modes also make use of Mimic’s up to eight sample slots to create your own multi-sampled instrument.
Furthermore, the front panel of Mimic Creative Sampler lays out quick access to the most common and powerful methods of sample manipulation. Time-stretching sampled audio borrows from Reason’s legendary stretch algorithm and adds new granular and tape modes too. Shape samples using Mimic’s onboard filters, colouration effects, compressor, and EQ.
And with a Reason+ subscription, now every audio preview in every sound pack just became a new sample for you to load into Mimic.
Mimic Creative Sampler Features
- Four sample playback modes –Pitch, Slice, MultiSlot, & Multi-Pitch
- Automatic transient slice detection chops samples for you
- Up to eight sample slots to load your own custom audio samples
- Unique sound colouring effects and filters
- Advanced audio time stretch
- LFO and envelope modulation routing
Reasons instruments sound amazing when solo on their own but they take on a whole other dimension when combined with other instruments and effects in the Reason Rack for massively complex-sounding patches. And when it comes to containing these creations into a singular preset that can be saved and shared with others, the Combinator is the tool for the job.
Combinators allow you to put multiple Rack devices into self-contained presets that are found all throughout Reason’s soundbank and in new Reason+ sound packs every week. As a result, Reason 12 DAW Software introduces an all-new and mightily updated Combinator that will take your presets, and your music, to a whole new level.
So you can use the Combinator’s Editor to design your own front panels – adding knobs, faders, control wheels, and buttons to build your own Rack device interface powered by Reason’s synths and effects inside. Easily map parameters inside the Combinator to control your custom layout, even controlling several devices at once with one simple control. You can also add your own background images to give your Combinators a personalized look.
Even if you don’t plan to build your own Combinators from scratch or consider yourself more of a beatmaker than a sound-designer, you’ll still be able to use all the new Combinators that are heading your way – with over 100 new and a thousand updated Combinator patches in Reason 12, new Reason+ sound packs coming every week, and the boundless creativity of the Reason community that’s sure to amaze us all.
- Combine Rack devices inside to build advanced signal chains
- Create custom front panel layouts with knobs, buttons, faders
- Easily assign device parameters to combinator controls and multi-parameter macros too
- Advanced control programming to define parameter ranges
