Korg volca fm – Digital Polyphonic Synthesizer
The Korg volca fm brings the distinctive character of classic FM synthesis into a compact, hands-on instrument. Its three-voice polyphonic engine, six operators and 32 algorithms recreate the sound engine of a classic FM synthesizer, while the MODULATOR/CARRIER knobs make shaping those sounds easier to grasp.
Classic FM Sound, Made Accessible
FM synthesis is known for sharp, metallic tones, electric pianos and synth basses. The volca fm is fully compatible with classic FM synthesizers and can load files in SYS-EX/SYX format from the Yamaha DX7. MODULATOR/CARRIER knobs map multiple parameters into direct sound changes, with full parameter editing available for deeper control.
Shape Phrases as You Play
Its 16-step sequencer lets you record performances from the touch panel keyboard and automate parameters as a phrase runs. Motion sequence records knob movements, adding time-varying changes to the sound. Store up to sixteen sequence patterns in internal memory, then use WARP ACTIVE STEP and PATTERN CHAIN for more varied patterns.
More Depth for Sound and Performance
An onboard chorus effect adds depth to FM sounds and expands the available sound-creating options. The sync connector links the volca fm with other Korg devices for synchronized sequencer playback, while two volca fm units can clone sound programs and sequence data between them.
Compact Control Anywhere
Battery operation, a built-in speaker and compact size make the volca fm easy to move between creative spaces. The MIDI IN jack also lets you use it as a sound module with a DAW or MIDI controller, giving keyboard and sequencing setups a straightforward way to access its FM engine.
