The Behringer X32 mixer is a full-size digital mixing console with 40 input processing channels, 25 mix buses, 32 MIDAS-designed microphone preamps and 25 motorised faders. Built for live sound and studio recording, it brings channel processing, effects, scene recall and multitrack USB recording together on one powerful control surface.
From mixing a live band to recording a rehearsal or running sound in a venue, the X32 gives you plenty of ways to organise your session. Dedicated channel controls, colour LCD scribble strips and a 7-inch display keep important settings within easy reach, and the dedicated 100 mm motorised faders follow your recalled mixes. Inputs and Outputs for Your Whole Setup
The X32 mixer provides 32 local microphone inputs, six additional 1/4-inch TRS auxiliary inputs and 16 balanced XLR outputs. Separate control-room outputs and headphone connections let you monitor your mix, while flexible routing helps you send audio to your main speakers, stage monitors and recording system.
The 40-input specification describes the console’s processing capacity; it includes 32 microphone channels and additional auxiliary and USB-return channels. Connect your microphones with suitable XLR cables, then build your routing around the sources and outputs your show needs.
MIDAS-Designed Microphone Preamps
The 32 programmable MIDAS-designed microphone preamps give you control over the microphones feeding your mix, from lead vocals and backing singers to drums and guitar cabinets. Their gain settings can be stored with your scenes, helping you prepare familiar setups for repeat performances and recording sessions.
Multitrack USB Recording with X-USB
The supplied X-USB interface card provides 32-in, 32-out USB audio connectivity for recording and playback through a compatible computer. Capture individual tracks from a live performance, record your band in the studio or play recorded tracks back through the console for a virtual soundcheck.
Recording supports 24-bit audio at 44.1 or 48 kHz. The interface works with compatible ASIO or Core Audio recording software, including applications such as Cubase, Logic Pro and Pro Tools. Check the current driver and operating-system requirements before setting up your computer.
For a quick stereo recording, the separate USB-A recorder can capture your mix directly to a USB drive. Multitrack recording through X-USB uses a connected computer and recording software.
Onboard Effects and Channel Processing
The Behringer X32’s virtual effects rack offers eight stereo FX slots for reverbs, delays, modulation effects and other processors. Add space to vocals, give a snare some extra character or shape an instrument’s sound using the console’s onboard tools.
Channel EQ, compression and gating help you balance individual sources, while bus processing gives you further control over monitor mixes and grouped signals. Effect choices and routing determine how the available FX slots are used.
Motorised Faders, DCA Groups and Scene Recall
The 25 motorised 100 mm faders give you physical control over your mix and move into position when you recall a scene. Eight DCA groups let you adjust several channels together, so you can bring the drums, backing vocals or whole band up and down from a single group fader.
Colour LCD scribble strips help you identify channels at a glance, and assignable knobs and buttons put regularly used functions close at hand. The built-in talkback microphone also lets you communicate with performers through their monitor feeds.
Save your console settings as scenes for regular gigs, different acts or studio sessions. You can also export show data to a USB drive for backup or transfer to another compatible X32 console.
AES50 Stage-Box Expansion and Personal Monitoring
For larger stage setups, the AES50 connections support compatible digital stage boxes, allowing you to place microphone inputs and outputs closer to the performers. A suitable shielded CAT5e connection carries digital audio between the stage box and console, helping organise the cable run from stage to front-of-house.
The ULTRANET connection also supports compatible P16 personal monitoring equipment, including the P16-M personal mixer. This lets performers adjust their own monitor balance from the signals you assign. Stage boxes, personal mixers and connecting cables are sold separately.
Remote Mixing with X32-Edit
X32-Edit gives you access to console settings from a compatible Windows, Mac or Linux computer over a network connection. Prepare scenes before a show, adjust routing or check your mix from another position in the venue.
Compatible mobile control apps provide further options for adjusting front-of-house and monitor mixes. Wireless control requires a suitable network setup, including an external wireless router connected to the console’s Ethernet port.
