The speakers allow the sound-producing diaphragm to vibrate without the levels of distortion. This is thanks to the speaker unit containing a diaphragm that is precision-grown from bio-cellulose. As a result, it essentially makes the TMA2 Studio Wireless+ speaker stiffer, lighter and stronger resulting in a more accurate and detailed sound with the ability to retain clarity of sound at high volumes.
Bio-cellulose diaphragm
The TMA2 Studio Wireless+ diaphragm features bio-cellulose technology. This is a fascinating material made of bacterial cellulose. It is an organic compound grown using certain types of bacteria that is renewable, biodegradable, and have great acoustic properties. Under close observation, the diaphragm contains a structure of fine fibres so they are very stiff and lightweight making them ideal for speaker diaphragm construction.
Diaphragms in a perfect speaker will move like a piston. The diaphragms move back and forth without tilting or wobbling or changing shape. So when designing speakers it is important for the diaphragm to be made as stiff as possible. So if the material is too flexible, this results in a resonating motion which can cause harmonic distortion. Stiff and rigid materials are often heavier intern requiring more power to move. They also require more powerful amplification that consumes more battery power. The bio-cellulose diaphragm in the TMA2 Studio Wireless+ is able to provide the stiffness required without introducing extra weight or amplification. These are the unique features and acoustic properties of a bio-cellulose speaker diaphragm.
