Yamaha MGP24X A 24-Channel Analogue Mixer with Effects

The Yamaha MGP24X A is a 24-channel mixer that blends analogue mixing with onboard digital effects and USB recording. It pairs 16 D-PRE mic preamps with X-pressive EQ, so you can shape each source from the first stage. Also, four stereo channels and a clear bus layout give live sound, events and installations plenty of room.

D-PRE preamps and X-pressive EQ at the front end

Each mic input runs through a D-PRE preamp built on an inverted Darlington circuit. Yamaha designed this circuit for a full, smooth tone. Every mic input also has 48 V phantom power and a 100 Hz high-pass filter. As a result, you can power condenser mics and clean up low-end rumble on each channel.

Because phantom power runs through the XLR inputs, connect your mics with balanced XLR cables. X-pressive EQ then draws on the character of classic EQ modules. In addition, channels 1-8 and 13-16 add a sweepable mid band from 250 Hz to 5 kHz.

Route monitors, groups and effects clearly

Six AUX sends cover stage wedges or in-ear mixes. Two FX sends also feed the onboard effects. With four GROUP buses plus the ST bus, you can sub-mix drums, vocals or band sections onto single faders. Similarly, the Matrix and Mono outs provide extra feeds for fills, a separate zone or a recorder. Finally, 16 channel inserts and a stereo return leave room for outboard processing.

1-Knob compression and REV-X and SPX effects

1-Knob Compressors on channels 9-16 control dynamic vocals and instruments with a single turn. FX1 runs Yamaha’s REV-X reverb with eight programs. FX2, meanwhile, runs SPX with 16 programs. Both engines offer parameter control, so you can fine-tune each program to suit the room.

Record every show straight to USB

The USB Device port records your mix directly to a conventional USB storage device. That makes it easy to archive gigs, rehearsals and services straight from the desk. This mixing console runs on 100-240 V mains at 50/60 Hz. It measures 819 mm wide, 169 mm high and 565 mm deep, so check your desk or case space first.
