Dave Smith Prophet 12 Desktop
The Dave Smith Prophet 12 Desktop module is a synthesizer module that delivers the same power and sound as the Prophet 12 Keyboard. Each of the twelve voices is composed of a hybrid digital/analog architecture that sounds different from the other DSI synthesizers, yet retains the true Prophet vibe. The brand new hybrid voice has a digital front end followed by an all-analog signal path output.
Each voice has five high-resolution digital oscillators, a digital character effects section, a resonant Curtis low-pass filter, a high-pass filter, and a tune-able feedback circuit. Also available is a four-tap delay line with feedback per line, four loopable five-stage envelope generators, and four syncable LFOs with slew and phase offset. A sophisticated arpeggiator and a sixteen-slot modulation matrix with twenty-six modulation sources and ninety-seven modulation destinations provide further versatility.
The streamlined interface with a sharp OLED display allows for quick and easy control of every parameter on the synthesizer. Easily create modulation assignments using the Assign Mod buttons. Dedicated low- and high-pass filter potentiometers provide quick and smooth control of the filters. Extensive MIDI implementation covers every available parameter on the instrument with dedicated MIDI I/O along with USB MIDI. The module is housed in a rugged steel enclosure.
Mind-blowing sonic firepower
Dave Smith Instruments’ Prophet 12 Module packs stunning firepower. The sonic range of this synth’s voice architecture is staggering. With 48 oscillators in the engine room (plus 12 sub-oscillators), there’s no limit to your creativity. And once you’ve created a patch (or grabbed one of the awesome-sounding presets), you get a universe of deep modulation and effects options to massage it into something never heard before. In addition to the Character section, the Prophet 12 Module offers an army of envelopes, LFOs, delays, and an arpeggiator that can all be synced.
Shape your sounds intuitively with Character
The Dave Smith Prophet 12 Desktop’s Character section gives you powerful, intuitive wave-shaping and sound-sculpting control. With parameter descriptions like Drive, Hack, Decimation, Girth, or Air, there’s little left to the imagination as to what it’ll do to your sound. Prepare to be amazed. And delighted.
Designed by a synth legend
Dave Smith was the design engineer and driving force behind Sequential Circuits, whose first product was the legendary Prophet 5 in 1977 – the first polyphonic synthesizer capable of storing the value of every parameter within its voicing and control systems. This was a watershed technological breakthrough, and the implications were staggering. Think about this: before the Prophet 5, it simply wasn’t possible to enter a patch number into a synth and recall sounds you had stored. The Prophet 5 and its successors were hugely successful, finding their way into every top studio and major act’s keyboard rig, and onto countless recordings by artists as diverse as Madonna and Weather Report! Impressive, yes – but Dave also had a hand in inventing a little thing called MIDI.
